Legislative

The NH Retail Association firmly believes that retailing is the driving force of competition, and every legitimate retailer—regardless of size, shape, or type—should thrive in the marketplace.
We actively advocate for policies and laws that bolster New Hampshire’s robust retail climate. The NH Retail Association is committed to preserving the state's tax-free shopping status as a cornerstone of our advocacy, ensuring a competitive retail environment that supports businesses, consumers, and economic growth.

What is important to you, is important to us. We are on the front lines of important issues that directly affect your bottom line: wage and labor issues, swipe fees, workers’ compensation costs, environmental regulations, taxes and more.

Government Affairs

The NH Retail Association stands as a vital link between state legislators in Concord and the retailers we proudly represent. Our members can focus on their businesses, knowing we are dedicated to advocating for them at the State House. By maintaining regular communication with other lobbyists and organizations at both the state and federal levels, we provide a powerful and effective network of information for our members. Our experienced lobbyists consistently monitor, research, and testify on behalf of our members, ensuring their voices are heard.

When you're a member of the NH Retail Association, you are never alone. Together, we amplify your voice on legislative matters that are crucial to the success of your business.

The NH Retail Association is represented at the New Hampshire State House by Demers, Prasol & Thomas Inc.  — one of New Hampshire’s leading government affairs firms.

Political Action Committee

The NH Retail Association proudly established the New Hampshire Retail Political Action Committee (NHRetail PAC) with a clear mission: to drive the election of state legislators who are committed to policies that uphold and enhance New Hampshire's vibrant retail environment.

The accomplishments of the NH Retail Association are impressive. Our advocacy has led to meaningful advancements, including a comprehensive retail economic and sales tax impact study, significant legislative victories, and a strong leadership role in promoting energy efficiency in the commercial sector.

Our longstanding relationships with key legislators have proven invaluable, and the NHRetail PAC is instrumental in fostering these connections. Notably, we have financially supported current leaders, including three chairs of House committees, two House vice chairs, a Senate committee chair, the current Senate President, and the sitting Governor. New Hampshire stands out in the upcoming elections, benefiting from the absence of constitutional limits on corporate contributions to PAC funds—an advantage that many other states and federal elections do not share.

Join us in strengthening New Hampshire’s retail climate. Your financial contribution to the NHRetail Political Action Committee is a critical step in ensuring our continued success and prosperity.
